Aidan is a melancholic 257 year old vampire made by Bishop in 1779 during the American Revolution when they were both soldiers. Aidan mentions he had a wife and son which he tried to tell that he was a vampire. He refuses to stay what happened to them, but it is implied he unwillingly killed them when they tried to help. He mentions he worked at his father's printing press before the war broke out and he had at least one child, a son.

Aidan mentions he fought in the Civil War for the Union Army.

He has worked as a nurse in a hospital in Boston for the last several years, leaving his former vampire clan and swearing off killing. He's trying to live as ordinary a life as possible. He likes working in the hospital because he has access to blood and he finds comfort in laying people to rest in death, something he will never know. In There Goes the Neighborhood: Part 1, he moves into a House with his fellow supernatural friend Josh, a Werewolf, hoping they will be able to look after each other.

It soon becomes apparent that Aidan is terribly conflicted by who he is. He loses control in bed with his colleauge Rebecca and bites her. He's forced to get back in touch with his old vampire clan to help clear him of the murder. Bishop is secretly delighted to help him because he wants to lure Aidan back into the vampire lifestyle to help him expand their legion...
