Dessie is a shop owner. He has an old hunting trophy on his wall, a wolf, that's why Tom gets into an argument with Dessie. Dessie even points a weapon at Tom but doesn't shoot. Dessie is killed by Fergus, after he had told him that he had seen Hal.
