Jane was James Bishop's human lover in 1955. She knew that Bishop was a vampire but didn't care. She loved Bishop as much as he loved her but did not wish to become a vampire, despite her aging and the prospect of her being with Bishop for eternity. She believed it was unnatural and "cheating God". Unknown to her Bishop was given a stark choice by a group of Ancient vampire leaders lead by Heggeman: Give her up and become the head of the Boston Sect of Vampires seceding Carlo, his maker who was killed by Heggeman; or be with his human lover and be cast out of the vampire family. He chose to toe the line and become the head Vampire in Boston. One night as she was making a bed in her Boston Hospital where she worked Bishop came to her and lovingly told her about how much he loved her and that she was right that they have to be true to what they are. He kissed her one final time and then strangled her with no effort with his great vampire strength while he sobbed softly. After she died he laid her on the bed, she was making and walked out of the room. (Dog Eat Dog)
