There are several plants, herbs and other natural materials that are extremely toxic to Vampires. A Vampire can also find him or herself in a uniquely deadly situation just by ignoring a very simple human custom.

Garlic: Upon consuming garlic a Vampire will immediately revert to it's natural form complete with black eyeballs and visible fangs. While under the influence of garlic a Vampire is unable to assume a convincing human like form and must appear as what they are. Feverfew or Mistletoe can sometimes reverse this effect for Vampires but not always.

Wooden Stakes: The surest way to kill a Vampire is to drive a wooden stake through it's heart. No Vampire in history has ever been able to ressurect itself after being staked through the heart. Upon being staked the Vampire will almost immediately burn up into ashes and there will not be enough of the body left to re-construct. Wooden stakes should preferably be carved from Ashwood as "Ygdrassill" The Norse "Tree of Life" is an Ashwood tree and failing that they should be carved from Aspen because Christ's crucifix was carved from Aspen wood.

Juniper: Juniper causes a slow acting, short lasting paralysis in Vampires. Whether fed Juniper directly or even if they are poisoned through Juniper infected human blood it is a powerful herb against Vampires. The effects of Juniper are much like Rigor Mortis which leads some to believe that Juniper temporarily "clears" the Vampire gene and allows the effects of death to catch up to the human body.

Dogrose and or Wolfsbane: When Dogrose or Wolfsbane (the most powerful is a mixture of the two) is rubbed on the skin of a corpse a Vampire will mistake the scent for that of a Werewolf and will not attempt to turn the dead body into a Vampire.

Sunlight: Most modern Vampires have become accustomed to sunlight and they are free to walk about during the day but most will wear sunglasses and extra clothing during daylight hours suggesting that while daylight doesn't kill them anymore they are still very sensitive to it. A Vampire is not at it's full power during daylight hours. The Elder Vampires like the Dutch Clan of the Chosen choose to forsake sunlight and hibernate for long periods sometimes up to fifty human years...while this may seem like a long time to a human to an Elder Vampire it is only a few moments. While it is clear that at some point in the ancient times sunlight may have been deadly to Vampires it seems that the more "modern" and evolved Vampires are able to withstand it's effects and travel freely throughout the day as long as they cover themselves accordingly.
