Synopsis[]
Three months after the events of the Season 3 finale, Aidan and Nora are living in the RV formerly owned by Pete. Together they try to both contain and protect Josh, while switching & covering shifts at the hospital so that neither loses their job. Apparently due to his experience in the "in-between" plane, Josh's transformation has reversed itself, with him being human one night a month on the full moon, and then in wolf form the rest of the month. Since Nora still turns regularly, they get to see each other in human form for a scant 30 minutes or so one night a month. Aidan help keeps wolf Josh calm by releasing him into the woods every day and then running him back to the kennel using himself as bait. Nora notes that they now have to do it 3 times a day, and Aidan notes that Josh's wolf is getting both faster AND smarter as time goes on. The two then discuss Sally and wonder where she disappeared to, since neither have seen her in some time.
Meanwhile, Sally finds herself trapped in the "in-between" plane with Donna after the witch destroyed her death spot and then dragged them both down through it. As part of the new powers Sally had begun to develop after her fight with Donna, she can somehow make their shared reality whatever she wants... such as a day spa or a vacation spot in Cabo (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico). Donna, while impressed with her ability to do so, reiterates that Sally is dangerous because of what she can do, and therefore vows to keep them there forever... or until she can figure out how to permanently destroy herself and Sally.
Back in the forest, a human Josh spends his time with Nora, then goes to drink beer with Aidan as Nora leaves to turn for the night. A despondent Josh demands that Aidan kill him, as he can no longer control his wolf and worries that he will be violent like Connor or Brynn were. When Aidan refuses, the conversation turns towards the relationship between Aidan and Kat, a relationship which continues to strengthen despite Aidan's frequent disappearances.
Back at the "day spa", Donna and Sally wrestle for control of the reality they're in, with Sally eventually diving into a funnel that appears in the pool - an act which somehow transports her to a modern day department store back on "our" plane of existence. During the transition, however, she begins to see flashes of Donna's early life in 1680s Andover, Massachusetts. Sally learns that Donna, an innocent woman, was accused of witchcraft and unjustly executed. After a local coven of witches revived her, however, she became one of their circle.
While Josh spends his time at the RV catching up on the month's event (via notes & video left by Aidan & Nora), Aidan enjoys some time with Kat. While on a date, however, Aidan sees his long-dead wife Suzanna in the crowd. He pursues her but cannot find her. Later that night, he again sees Suzanna while he and Kat make love, causing him to panic and head home where he finds Sally returned.
Sally is therefore reunited with Josh & Nora as well, although they find that Josh in his wolf form has escaped and likely did so on purpose with the intent of making them kill him. Instead, Sally conjures fire around the wolf and the distraction allows Nora to shoot him with a tranquilizer dart. The act, however, knocks Sally into another plane of existence - one which appears as an empty version of the real world before transitioning to a circle of witches sacrificing a young girl while chanting.
The following morning Aidan enjoys spending time in bed with Kat, where she announces that she is in love with him. While he contemplates this and goes downstairs for blood, someone rings the doorbell, much to his frustration. As he opens it, however... he is shocked to find a flesh-and-blood Suzanna standing there.
