At first Hal and Tom do not like each other. Hal knows that Tom has killed a lot of vampires, that makes him very weary of him. Tom has just lost his stepfather McNair, Nina and George to vampires and is not very pleased, that Annie wants Hal to live with them. However Hal and Tom get close very soon. They work together in a cafe and support each other. In the fifth series they are manipulated by the Devil, so that at the end they even fight against each other. Alex however, tells them about the manipulation, so they get back together and fight the Devil.
